Mommy J is on the rampage!!

Daddy J likes to say that he can always tell which posts are written by me: The angry ranting ones.  Well, I am going to prove him right in today's post.

I came across this article the other day.
Here is the original article:
http://www.boston.com/yourtown/boston/roxbury/articles/2011/08/04/bus_passengers_detain_mother_after_boy_allegedly_hit/?camp=obinsite

Basically, a woman was on the bus with her 1 year old and the child didn't want to eat what she was trying to feed him - a frustration that I certainly know all too well! However, her reaction was to spew expletives at her son, pull her fist back and punch him square in the mouth. Hard enough to make  his head snap back and make his mouth start to bleed. Excuse my language but WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU LADY?!?!?!?!?

Several other bus riders, horrified by her actions (and rightfully so) ended up detaining her and calling the police.  And I have to say: kudos to these good bystanders who would not let this woman get away with harming her child!  Better that these people were there instead of me. I would have punched her in the mouth!  I'm a big believer in letting people parent in the way they see fit and I try not to be judgemental, but the second you intentionally hurt your child, OH YES, I am going to judge you!

AND HERE COMES THE RANT:

As much as I hated being pregnant, I was fortunate to be able to get pregnant and go through my pregnancy with no serious complications and am thankful everyday that I have a beautiful, healthy daughter. When I get frustrated with her picky eating or "misbehavior" (like running around in circles and singing ABC's in the middle of Target), I remind myself just how special it is that I get to deal with these "problems".  I know so many wonderful people who have had difficulty conceiving, lost pregnancies and lost children and these are the people who would make the world's best parents.

AND THEN I read about these moronic waste of human cells who don't appreciate what they have.  Idiots who abuse and neglect their kids or act like their kid puts a damper on their "lifestyle" make me want to scream at them and shake them!   If you didn't/don't want to love and care for the child you brought into this world, then GEEZ give them up to someone who would! At least you'd be giving your child a chance at happiness and a semi normal life!

And what pisses me off most is that many of these people seem to have no problem popping out half a dozen perfectly healthy babies just by looking at someone! (Seriously, I can't even count the number of stories like this I have read recently where the "parent" has 3, 4, 6, 10 other children! I'm really not trying to generalize.)

You  need to have a license to drive, maybe they need to institute a parenting license! Yes, I realize that there is a lot wrong with that idea as well...

Ok Mommies (and Daddies), I'm done ranting.  Thanks for listening. And go hug your babies.  That's what I'm going to do right now - that is if I can catch her!

Thanks for giving me a little perspective about what a joy it is to have a baby to feed, even if the majority of the food ends up in my hair.

I feel the same way when I see stuff like this...though often it's in my classroom (not that I am violent, but that I see my students having issues like this). I know there are reasons why everything happens, but this stuff...you just shake your head and don't understand...

I'm new to vB and hope to connect with you :)

Ugh! I get so frustrated with people too! One of my the women I know sends her daughter to her in-laws for 8 weeks over the summer so she can "have time to herself," and it kills me. I don't understand it!

I too can't believe that there are people out there who would ever hurt their child on purpose. And I too have friends who have struggled with the ability to have a child and see how blesses I am to be able to have two wonderful daughters to call my own. Thanks for sharing. Following from VB

I have said the same thing, many times. They really should make you take a test before handing you a baby. Most of the time I like to put stuff I don't agree with in the "we are all doing the best we can" box, but stories like this... well, that's a different matter. Poor kid. :(
Found you via vB Blog Hop. Thanks for the rant! I totally agree. :)
